Conference Theme Explores Crafting Concepts to Content

The American Association of Advertising Agencies today welcomed more than 600 attendees to the annual meeting of account planners, being held July 21–23 at the Loews Miami Beach, in South Beach, FL. Themed “Crafting Concepts and Content,” the array of Conference speakers and breakout sessions have been designed to provide inspiration from both the advertising and non-advertising worlds, and serve as the beginning of the next conversation on the future of planning.

The annual AAAA Account Planning Conference is the AAAA’s second largest annual meeting, behind the AAAA Media Conference and Trade Show, and includes attendees representing more than a dozen countries beyond the United States.

Speaker highlights for the two-and-a-half day Conference include:

  • John Anton, Mars Petcare, Inc.
  • Merry Baskin, Baskin Shark
  • Jeff Goodby & John Thorpe, Goodby Silverstein and Partners
  • Tom Carroll, TBWA Worldwide
  • Ed Cotton, Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners
  • Mark Earls, Herd Consulting
  • Jeffrey Rayport, Marketspace LLC
  • Geof Rochester, World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.
  • Nancy Hill, AAAA President and CEO

Also at the event, Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners of the annual Jay Chiat Planning Awards, the only international awards recognizing excellence in strategy and planning, will be announced, in addition to Honorable Mentions and an overall Grand Prix winner being crowned on Wednesday, July 23, 2008.

The Conference is also providing attendees with a fresh, dynamic look at the online world of Web 2.0, via coverage on social media sites such as Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and blogs (including one by Conference sponsor WARC), while questions for speakers in General Session are being submitted by attendees via text message.
