The AAAA Foundation is a charitable institution founded in 1997 and operated in cooperation with the AAAA. The Foundation grant scholarships to multicultural students studying advertising at the college and graduate school levels as an effort to increase diversity among the country’s advertising agencies. Through its cornerstone scholarship program, Operation Jumpstart, the Foundation works with selected post-graduate creative portfolio schools to identify aspiring art directors and copywriters of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Since 1997, more than $1.7 million in scholarships has been awarded and nearly all of the scholarship recipients have gone on to obtain jobs in the advertising industry.
In addition to Operation Jumpstart, the AAAA Foundation administers the following advertising scholarships for people of color and women: the Bill Bernbach Minority Scholarship, the John Mack Carter Scholarship, the ANA Multicultural Excellence Scholarship, the Forbes Media Scholarship and the Advertising Age Media Scholarship.
